Cagliari climbed off the bottom of Serie A after a tough 3-2 victory at Parma on Monday. The Sardinian team began the day in last place, being one of only two teams without a win. Now, they have moved up to 16th place.
Cagliari stayed strong even when Parma equalized twice.
They started well and took the lead in the 34th minute. The Parma defense couldn’t clear the ball, allowing Angolan winger Zito Luvumbo to cross for Nadir Zortea, who scored with a header.
Parma equalized in the 62nd minute when Woyo Coulibaly displayed some skill on the left wing and set up Dennis Man to score.
Romanian midfielder Marin came on for Luvumbo in the 73rd minute and just two minutes later, he scored again to put Cagliari ahead.
Michel Adopo pushed forward from midfield, passing to Marin at the edge of the box, who then shot perfectly into the far corner from 20 meters away.
In the 87th minute, Brazilian midfielder Hernani scored a penalty to level the game for Parma, but Cagliari responded quickly. Less than a minute later, Roberto Piccoli scored the winning goal.
Cagliari now has five points from six matches, the same total as Parma, which is in 15th place.
