Cleveland Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. has been suspended for five games by the NFL on Tuesday for breaking the league’s personal conduct policy after his arrest this summer for a domestic incident.
The league announced that Hall will be eligible to return on October 7, which means he has already served four games of his suspension. The 21-year-old was put on the commissioner’s exempt list last month because of the initial charge.
According to the league’s policy, any regular-season games missed while on the commissioner’s list count towards the suspension. Hall will need to forfeit his salary for those games.
Hall was charged with domestic violence on August 13 after an incident involving his fiancée at their home in Avon, Ohio.
The second-round draft pick from Ohio State pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct last month. He received a 30-day suspended jail sentence, was fined $250, and was given two years of supervised probation.
Before these off-field issues, Hall was expected to be part of Cleveland’s defensive lineup.
