Tyreek Hill smiled brightly as he talked about the “beautiful situation” he is in as the main receiver for the Miami Dolphins, downplaying trade rumors involving teams, including his old team, the Kansas City Chiefs, that are looking for receiving help.
Hill said on Wednesday that he wants to stay in Miami, even with the team’s 1-3 start and the fact that they have the lowest scoring offense in the NFL.
“I’m just focused on right here, right now,” Hill stated. “We got a beautiful team here, and I want to be a part of it.”
In a 31-12 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Monday, Hill only had four catches for 23 yards. This brings his total for the season to 217 yards on 17 catches, a significant drop from his top-performing season in 2023, where he had four touchdowns and 470 yards by the end of Week 4.
During Monday’s game, Hill was seen animatedly speaking to someone on the Dolphins sideline, while Miami could only manage 78 yards passing with backup Tyler Huntley, as Tua Tagovailoa remains on injured reserve due to a concussion.
“I wouldn’t refer to it as shouting,” Hill explained on Wednesday, downplaying the situation, “that’s just me motivating my teammates. I was simply telling 25 (RB Jaylen Wright) that we need more of that, because he had a great run there toward the end of the game.”
Hill and the Dolphins restructured his contract in the offseason to be worth $90 million, with $65 million guaranteed. This adjustment raised the total amount of fully guaranteed money on Hill’s contract—originally signed in 2022—to $106.5 million.
Rumors about a possible return to the Chiefs, who drafted him, surfaced earlier this week after Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice was carted off the field on Sunday with a serious knee injury.
