New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has expressed interest in reuniting with his former Raiders teammate, Davante Adams, if the opportunity arises. Adams, currently under contract with the Las Vegas Raiders until 2026, has reportedly requested a trade.

Sources, including ESPN’s Adam Schefter, revealed that Adams would prefer to play with a quarterback he is familiar with, such as Carr or Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets. The Raiders have indicated they might be willing to trade Adams for a package including a second-round draft pick and additional compensation.

Carr spoke highly of Adams, noting that any quarterback would jump at the chance to play with such a talented receiver. He expressed his own excitement at the idea of teaming up with Adams again, should it happen in the future.

Carr and Adams’ connection goes back to their college days at Fresno State, and they had the chance to play together professionally during the 2022 season with the Raiders. Though the team’s performance that year was underwhelming, Carr recalled their partnership fondly.

In their 2022 season together, Adams racked up 1,500 receiving yards and scored 12 touchdowns under Carr’s leadership, making it one of the best statistical seasons of Adams’ career. Despite this, Carr was released by the Raiders in 2023, bringing their professional relationship to an end.

Nevertheless, Carr emphasized the fun they had playing together, and he continues to consider Adams one of his closest friends. Their families still vacation together, showing that their bond extends beyond the football field.

Though Carr and Adams speak regularly, Carr confirmed that they have not discussed any trade rumors. He remained focused on his current role with the Saints, pointing out that business decisions like trades are out of his hands. Carr seemed intent on staying grounded in the present, concentrating on his responsibilities in New Orleans rather than speculating on the future or getting involved in Adams’ situation with the Raiders.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen, when asked about the possibility of adding Adams or another wide receiver, stated his confidence in the current group of pass catchers, including promising young talents Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.

Allen praised their recent performances, particularly in a game against the Atlanta Falcons, but he acknowledged that the team would explore opportunities to strengthen the roster if they made sense. While the Saints seem content with their receiver depth, there remains a possibility that Adams or another star player could be considered if it benefits the team.
