The NFL and the players’ association announced on Friday that all necessary procedures were followed when Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was checked for a concussion during last week’s game in Houston and cleared to play again.

In a joint statement, they mentioned that they looked over the reports from the independent neurotrauma consultant and booth observers, confirming that the required steps of the concussion protocol were followed.

They noted that this protocol was established together by the league and the association.

Allen exited the game with about six minutes remaining after his helmet hit the ground following an incomplete pass. He was observed in the medical tent but returned in time for Buffalo’s next series. However, his last five passes were all incomplete.

Three days after the 23-20 loss to the Texans, Allen didn’t share much about his evaluation.

“I obviously went into the tent,” Allen said, who was listed with injuries to his left hand and ankle on this week’s injury report. “I can only control what I can control. What we talked about there, they deemed me cleared to play, and that’s what happens. That’s as deep as I’ll get into it.”
