The Miami Heat are aiming to return to the NBA Finals this season, and their biggest challenge is the Boston Celtics.
Miami is open to adding former Celtics players to their team to try to surpass their Eastern Conference rivals (like Terry Rozier), and now they might be interested in signing another former Boston guard.
The Heat have a solid starting lineup, but like many strong teams, they could benefit from additional scoring off the bench.
Lonnie Walker IV, who was recently waived by Boston according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, would fit well into Miami’s offense, just as he did with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers in the past two seasons.
Heat executive Pat Riley should act quickly to bring in Walker, especially since the Lakers are likely to reach out this weekend to negotiate a possible return.
The defensively-focused New York Knicks, who also need bench scoring, would be another great fit for Walker. Like Miami, New York must be excited about the chance to add a former Celtic.
Walker won’t remain available for long. He’s proven to be a strong scorer in the NBA. The question is whether Los Angeles, Miami, or New York will go all out for Walker, or if he will shine in another city this season.
