The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have put wide receiver Chris Godwin, who is the leader in NFL receptions, on injured reserve due to an ankle injury that will need surgery.

The Bucs shared this news on Wednesday, also announcing that punter Trenton Gill and wide receiver Ryan Miller were signed from the practice squad to the active roster.

Punter Jack Browning and wide receiver Dennis Houston joined the practice squad. Godwin dislocated his left ankle in the last minute of Monday night’s 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

He is likely to miss the rest of the season, although coach Todd Bowles mentioned that there is a chance Godwin could come back if Tampa Bay makes it to the playoffs in January.

Godwin has 50 receptions and 33 first downs in just seven games. He ranks second in receiving yards with 576 and is tied for third with five touchdown catches.

Additionally, the Bucs lost wide receiver Mike Evans to a hamstring injury during the game against the Ravens, and he is expected to be out for at least three more games.
