The Tennessee Titans completed their second trade on Wednesday by exchanging linebackers with Seattle, sending Ernest Jones to the Seahawks in return for linebacker Jerome Baker, according to a source familiar with the situation who spoke to The Associated Press.

The trade also involves Seattle giving a fourth-round pick to Tennessee, as the source requested to remain anonymous since the teams have not yet announced the deal.

This marks a brief stint in Tennessee for Jones, who was traded by the Rams in late August. He is in the last year of his rookie contract after being drafted in the third round in 2021 from South Carolina. Jones was part of the Rams’ Super Bowl win in his rookie year and led the team in tackles last season.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald indicated that Jones will probably play middle linebacker, with Tyrel Dodson moving to the weakside. Macdonald expects Jones to be ready to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

“A guy that we’ve had respect for for a long time,” Macdonald said. “Just a really good football player all the way around.

I remember seeing him making plays in the Super Bowl; that was probably the first time he kind of got on my map. Just excited to get him here and get him rolling.”

Baker, who signed a one-year, $7 million contract this past March after visiting Tennessee, spent his first six years with the Miami Dolphins. He has 30 combined tackles and one sack in five games this season but missed two games due to a hamstring injury suffered in Seattle’s Week 2 win over New England.

The trade for Jones alone provides the Titans with a fourth-round pick in April and a sixth-round pick in 2026, along with Baker, while costing them a fifth-round pick in 2026.

Earlier on Wednesday, Tennessee also agreed to trade three-time All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, who are two-time defending Super Bowl champions, to strengthen a position group impacted by injuries.
