Sebastian Aho and Jalen Chatfield each had a goal and an assist as the Carolina Hurricanes extended their strong play with a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.

The Hurricanes scored three goals in the first seven minutes of the third period, earning their 12th win in 14 games. Carolina has outscored their opponents 12-2 in their last three victories.

Ryan Poehling scored the only goal for Philadelphia, which has lost two straight after a 4-0-1 run. Ivan Fedotov made 33 saves for the Flyers, while Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 18 shots for the Hurricanes.

The game was tied 1-1 just over a minute into the third period when Aho stole the puck at the blue line, skated into the high slot, and took a shot that slipped through Fedotov and into the net.

Less than a minute later, Dmitry Orlov fired a shot from the blue line that Jordan Staal tipped in for his third goal of the season.

Aho stole the puck again to help set up the third goal. He took it at center ice, skated into the offensive zone, and passed it to Jack Roslovic, who moved the puck from his backhand to his forehand before scoring his 10th goal of the season.

Philadelphia didn’t threaten much as the game went on.

The Hurricanes took the lead early, scoring just 30 seconds into the game when Chatfield’s rising shot from the right point gave them a 1-0 lead.

The score stayed 1-0 until Poehling tied it at 2:13 into the second period. The Hurricanes turned the puck over at the Flyers’ blue line, and on the counterattack, Poehling beat Kochetkov with a long wrist shot from just inside the blue line.

Fedotov made several big saves in the second period to keep the score tied, but the Hurricanes dominated in the third.
