It all started with Dez Bryant, a former Pro Bowl player who had an impressive eight-season career with the Cowboys before injuries cut it short. Since then, Bryant has become a frequent commentator on NFL matters, especially regarding the Cowboys, often using social media to share his thoughts.
Bryant, like many Cowboys fans, is frustrated with how the franchise has been stuck in a loop in recent years—or rather, decades. The Cowboys have not reached a Super Bowl or even an NFC championship game in the last 30 years.
The Cowboys’ front office is mainly run by owner and general manager Jerry Jones, with his son Stephen Jones alongside him. Bryant is clearly not a fan of how the organization is structured.
This week, Bryant shared his thoughts on Twitter/X, saying, “From now on, I’ll speak my truth about the Cowboys… whether it’s good or bad. Jerry has built a great brand, and now it’s time for the team to start winning. It’s time for a real culture shift. I’m fed up with all the nepotism… get someone in there who can win games…”
However, Cowboys star Micah Parsons disagrees with Bryant. Parsons, who plays linebacker for the team, pointed out that if Bryant truly wanted to help change the culture, he had eight years as a top player to do so.
Parsons responded to Bryant’s comments on Twitter/X: “Stuff like this (irritates) me Dez because you had enough talent and was probably one of the greatest in your time! You could have changed the culture brother!! You could have changed the culture!”
For now, the Cowboys are still under the leadership of Jerry and Stephen Jones, and it doesn’t seem like much is going to change soon. The team parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy last week and is now searching for his replacement.
