Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson will start training camp on the active/non-football injury list, according to the team’s announcement. He is one of four players given this designation, alongside backup quarterback Case Keenum, running back Ian Wheeler, and wide receiver Jahdae Walker. Players on this list are eligible to return to the active roster once they pass their physical examinations.

Training camp activity is already underway at Halas Hall, with rookies and quarterbacks reporting on Saturday. The team is scheduled to hold its first official practice on Wednesday. Johnson’s placement on the injury list is notable given his role as a key starter and defensive leader for the Bears.

Johnson’s Pro Bowl Momentum Pauses As Teammates Recover From Offseason Injuries And Setbacks

Jaylon Johnson had a standout season in 2024, earning his second straight Pro Bowl selection. He recorded two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble. Though the specifics of his current injury remain undisclosed, he did participate in much of the team’s offseason program, suggesting his injury may not be long-term.

The other players on the injury list are at various stages of recovery. Ian Wheeler is still rehabbing from an ACL tear suffered in the 2024 preseason, while Case Keenum is recovering from a foot injury that kept him on the Texans’ injured reserve last season. Jahdae Walker, an undrafted rookie from Texas A\&M, is also working to get medically cleared before joining full team activities.
