Rumors have circulated that the Seattle Seahawks could be put up for sale following their appearance in Super LX against the New England Patriots, according to reports from ESPN. However, a spokesperson for the team’s ownership quickly refuted those claims, emphasizing that the Seahawks are not currently for sale. “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation, and the team is not for sale,” the spokesman said, adding that the focus remains on winning the Super Bowl and completing the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers in the coming months.
Both the Seahawks and Trail Blazers have been owned by the estate of Paul G. Allen since the billionaire entrepreneur passed away from cancer in 2018. Allen’s sister, Jody Allen, has managed the teams in the years since his death. The Trail Blazers are currently in the process of being sold after Jody Allen reached an agreement in August 2025 with Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon. While the sale terms and closing date were not disclosed, ESPN estimated the team’s value at around $4 billion.

Seahawks Potential Sale Could Set Record Amid Historic Sports Franchise Transactions
If the Seahawks were to be put on the market after the Super Bowl, it would be unprecedented in the Super Bowl era, marking the first time a team appearing in the championship game would be listed for sale immediately afterward. ESPN cited an executive from another NFL franchise who estimated the Seahawks’ potential sale value could range between $7 billion and $8 billion, which would surpass the current NFL record. The Washington Commanders currently hold that record after their 2023 sale to the Josh Harris-led group for over $6 billion.
The 2020s have seen several of the largest team sales in North American sports history. The Broncos were sold to the Walton-Penner group in 2022 for $4.65 billion, while Mat Ishbia purchased the Phoenix Suns and Mercury for $4 billion. Most notably, the Los Angeles Lakers were sold this past summer for a reported $10 billion, setting the highest price ever for an NBA or North American sports franchise.
While speculation around the Seahawks’ sale continues, the team’s representatives have emphasized that attention remains squarely on the Super Bowl, leaving any potential future ownership discussions secondary for now.
