Arsenal’s charm Bukayo Saka has been suffering from a recurring Achilles injury since the last season. The problem persists, making him a major concern for the match to take place on 17th September 2023 between Arsenal and Everton.

The young star has made a great impression during the last season with his two goals and an assist throughout his four opening matches.

His gameplay was guarding Gareth Southgate’s England squad that faced Ukraine and Scotland during the international break. After playing for 85 minutes in a draw with 1-1 scores with the former, Saka was benched for the rest of the 150th anniversary heritage match against Steve Clark’s side.

Saka has proved himself to be a great asset for Arsenal, but he is set back by his injury yet again. According to the reports, Saka is believed to still be suffering from the Achilles issue that has stopped him before.

Manager Mikel Arteta wishes for Saka’s recovery to chase this season and hopes Southgate’s decision to rest the winger was to promote his speedy recovery for the upcoming Arsenal match.

Has Arsenal found a replacement for its fallen star?

Arsenal has already lost Jurrien Timber to an injury this summer, along with the defensive option Thomas Partey. Saka missing out on the season in either the short or long term could be fatal for the club.

However, the Spaniard isn’t completely out of options to replace the 22-year-old star in case needed. Leandro Trossard, a player with just 78 minutes played for the Gunners throughout all competitions this season, could be the perfect replacement for Saka this season.

Trossard has only scored once in his 20 league appearances during his last season with the Gunners, but his ten assists were seen as a vital move in keeping the fight going, setting him behind Saka by only one assist with 25 less 90 minutes played.

Trossard has shown to have better-passing completion than Saka during the last season and has proven to create more goal actions per 90 (0.87) than Saka (0.79).

In real terms, Saka has played almost 2,000 more minutes than Trossard last year. However, with the goal of 5-0 scored by the Belgian international against Estonia on 13 September 2023, Trossard has marked himself as a real candidate to fill in for the 22-year-old star if he has to stay out of the game for a long time.

Trossard has yet to earn a goal for Arsenal in the league this season, but he could be signed for his 11th start as a Gunner if Saka stays out of the upcoming match against Everton on 17th September 2023. This season could be Arsenal’s time to find a new star player.
