Manchester United has banished Jadon Sancho after refusing to apologize to Erik Ten Hag for his outburst on social media.

The club’s £73million winger will now work away from team-mates at United’s academy’s facilities as the club looks to fix what they call a “squad discipline issue” after his public outburst on social media following the Premier League game with Arsenal earlier this month.

The Dispute between Sancho and Erik Ten Hag

Erik Ten Hag commented that “Jadon was on his performance in training. We didn’t select him,” he said. “You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United, you can make choices in the front line, so in this game, he wasn’t selected.”

Sancho wasn’t selected in the matchday squad for the 3-1 defeat against Arsenal due to his “performances in training,” said the manager of United.

In response to Ten Hag’s comments after the Arsenal game, Sancho took to social media to let his followers know, “Please don’t believe everything you read!”, ” “I will not allow people to say things that are (sic) completely untrue,” and “I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn’t fair!”

The England international asked Sancho to apologize to the manager, but he refused to do it, which resulted in the club taking action.

Sancho has been banished from the first-squad training and will not be considered for selection until there is a resolution.

Sancho also responded on Twitter, saying, “All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff. I play with fantastic players and am grateful to do so, which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”

One of England’s best young players

Manchester United was open to selling Sancho to Saudi Arabia before their transfer window closed last week, but the player refused to comply with the club and flew to New York for a break.

Before the Arsenal match, Sancho had featured in all the Premier League fixtures, with his last appearance being against Nottingham Forest on August 26.

Sancho joined United in a €85million (£73million) deal from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021 as one of England’s best young players, having scored 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 matches for the German club.
