For a very long time, it has been said that the beauty of baseball is indeed a chance to see something special that one has never ever seen before in any sort of game. This time Friday’s night entry involves none other than Astros first baseman Jon Singleton. Interesting, isn’t it?
This 31-year-old singleton indeed got the nod at first for the Astros in an eventual 11-3 win, that too over the famous team known as Singleton. Even though it was just his second start of the year for the defending champs, he performed extraordinarily well. He entered this game with 14 career major league home runs, and the most recent happened on July 29.
This Friday, he went deep again and then did it again, that too for real. The video indeed went viral, making him famous enough in today’s world.
Astros Jon Singleton Homers:
Singleton, indeed, had gone eight years and thirteen days between major-league home runs. After that, he even went to the yard in back-to-back innings. Isn’t it amazing? Not only this, he even drove home five runs with those two homers. Previously he had never compiled a multi-homer gamer, and nor had he ever had five RBI in any of the games. But this time, it was indeed impressive.
This Friday night, he had a career game in the second and the third innings. Seeing his story, he went to the Astros in the trade, which sent Hunter space to the Phillies. He was even considered a top prospect and was even signed as an extension when he was promoted to the majors in the year of 2014.
Unfortunately, things didn’t work out well and got fizzled, seemingly for good, as in 2017, he was suspended for a third positive test for drug abuse.
In the year 2021, he made his return to professional baseball in the Mexican League. In the year 2022 he signed with an organization known as Brewers. This year he made his MLB return with the brewers, and he even appeared in 11 games before even being released on set.
The Astros picked him back on June 24, that too on a minor league deal, and he even recently got the call back to the majors, which was obviously amazing. This Friday night was indeed an amazing one for him and one of the best ones till now.
Jon Singleton was Houston Astros’ first baseman, and unfortunately, he hadn’t homered in the past major eight years of his life and 13 days entering Friday night game against the Los Angeles. Then the miracle occurred, and he hit a home run in each of its first two at-bats.
Singleton’s contract was selected from Triple-A-sugar land on Tuesday, hitting a soaring three-run shot to the second deck in right field off Reid Detmers in order to put Houston on top 3-1 in the second inning. This Friday season, he had gone 0 for 4 with two walks in his first two games.
