“Chelsea had to take something from the game into the cup final. You had to build some belief. Playing away at Man City is a tougher game than playing Liverpool at Wembley.”

Carragher also highlighted Liverpool’s injury concerns but maintained his belief that they would have the slight edge in the final encounter.

Liverpool’s upcoming fixture against Luton Town in the midweek Premier League clash precedes their Carabao Cup showdown with Chelsea next weekend.

Barcelona is poised to decline any bids for their superstar despite significant interest from PSG.

Barcelona will reportedly turn down all offers for their talented midfielder Gavi, despite keen interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), as per Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

A product of Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, Gavi transitioned to the senior squad in the 2021-22 season, quickly showcasing remarkable skills and earning a regular spot in the team.

With 111 appearances for Barcelona across three seasons, Gavi has notched seven goals and provided 14 assists. Making his national debut at just 17, he has already represented Spain 27 times, finding the net five times.

Gavi

Unfortunately, Gavi is currently sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament tear sustained while playing for Spain against Georgia in November 2023. His absence is a significant setback for Barcelona’s La Liga title defense this season.

While PSG has a strong midfield with talents like Manuel Ugarte and Warren Zaire-Emery, they are reportedly eager to secure Gavi’s signature for long-term stability.

Despite interest from PSG, Manchester City, and Chelsea, Barcelona has firmly stated that Gavi is not available for transfer, emphasizing his importance to their plans.

“Good, congratulations,” remarked Pep Guardiola, seemingly poking fun at Mauricio Pochettino in response to the Chelsea boss’ post-match remarks.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appeared to take a playful dig at Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino following their teams’ 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Saturday, February 17. Guardiola seemed to tease Pochettino for expressing satisfaction with the draw, despite Chelsea holding the lead for most of the match.

In an interview with BBC’s Match of the Day after the game, Guardiola remarked:

“Good, congratulations. If he believes that, that is good for his team. We knew it [Chelsea would be a challenge]. That was a good game. We played incredible in the second half. The first half was not our level but to compete against them teams you have to play 90 minutes, not just one half.”

Pep Guardiola

Earlier, Pochettino had praised his players for their performance. Despite a challenging season for Chelsea, they put up a strong fight against Manchester City, maintaining a lead until the 83rd minute before Rodri’s deflected strike leveled the score.

Pochettino stated:

“I’m so pleased. I told the players I felt so proud. In the last three games, we’ve started to create a very good spirit. That’s the way we want to build our team. Today was a very good opportunity to show we’re going where we want.

The first half was good. We only conceded one chance – against a team like Manchester City who, for me, are the best team in the world.”

Chelsea has enjoyed a run of positive results after tough losses to Liverpool (1-4) and Wolves (2-4). They aim to maintain this momentum into the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool next weekend.

Meanwhile, City (53) remains in third place but missed an opportunity to climb to the top of the table. They still have a game in hand over Arsenal and Liverpool.

“Jannik Sinner’s emergence was akin to the arrival of Nadal & Federer, until Djokovic came in”: Juan Carlos Ferrero on the rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz & the Italian

Juan Carlos Ferrero has drawn parallels between the burgeoning rivalry of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner to that of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s iconic duels during the early 2000s.

Sinner’s meteoric rise since his professional debut in 2018 has been nothing short of remarkable. The Italian phenom claimed victory at the ATP NextGen Finals in 2019, swiftly ascending into the top 100 rankings.

By 2020, he secured his maiden ATP Tour title at the Sofia Open. The following year, Sinner’s dominance saw him break into the ATP top 10 after clinching four titles and reaching his first Masters final at the Miami Open.

Despite a brief dip in the ATP top 10 in 2022, Sinner’s consistent performance remained evident, reaching the quarterfinals of multiple Grand Slam events and adding another ATP title to his name at the Croatia Open.

In 2023, his triumph at the Open Sud de France and impressive runs at prestigious tournaments solidified his position in the top echelons of men’s tennis.

Sinner’s remarkable form continued into 2024, marked by his first Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open and a subsequent finals’ appearance at the Rotterdam Open, where he is set to face Alex de Minaur.

Juan Carlos Ferrero, coach of World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, drew attention to Sinner’s ascent and its implication for a compelling rivalry. In an interview with La Nacion, Ferrero likened the emergence of Sinner to the iconic rivalry of Federer and Nadal, with Novak Djokovic representing the next challenge for both Alcaraz and Sinner.

Reflecting on Alcaraz’s journey, Ferrero shared a conversation he had after Alcaraz’s loss to Djokovic in the 2023 Cincinnati Masters final, emphasizing the need for relentless dedication to match Djokovic’s level.

Victor Wembanyama of the Spurs Sets Sights on Slam Dunk and 3-Point Contests, Says It’s “on My Bucket List”

San Antonio Spurs’ newcomer Victor Wembanyama is making his debut appearance in the All-Star Weekend, showcasing his skills in both the Rising Stars Challenge and the Skills Challenge.

Expressing his aspirations, Wembanyama revealed his desire to also take part in the Slam Dunk Contest and the 3-Point Contest in the future, as reported by ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly.

“It’s definitely on my bucket list,” Wembanyama affirmed.

Historically, a select few athletes have engaged in both the Dunk Contest and the 3-Point Contest, including legendary names like Michael Jordan, Paul Pierce, and Kobe Bryant.

Despite this, no player has managed to clinch victory in both events, setting the stage for Wembanyama to potentially etch his name in history if he chooses to compete in both arenas.

While currently boasting a respectable 32% shooting accuracy from beyond the arc in his rookie season, Wembanyama might need to further establish his prowess from long range to secure an invitation to the 3-Point Contest.

With his towering 7-foot-4 stature, Wembanyama promises to deliver exhilarating dunks should he decide to partake in the Dunk Contest.

In the forthcoming Skills Challenge, Wembanyama aims to secure his inaugural victory. Aligning with Paolo Banchero and Anthony Edwards on Team Top Picks, he is set to contend against formidable opponents like Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, and Myles Turner on Team Pacers, as well as Scottie Barnes, Tyrese Maxey, and Trae Young on Team All-Stars.

The anticipation is high for what lies ahead for Wembanyama in future All-Star Weekends, with the potential for even more remarkable feats on the horizon.

Following his victory over Thomas, Tyson went on to become the undisputed heavyweight champion. However, his career took unexpected turns, including a shocking defeat to Buster Douglas in 1990.

Although Tyson briefly returned to the ring for an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, he has since confirmed his retirement. Addressing rumors of another fight, Tyson emphasized his decision to remain retired, stating, “No way. I’m not fighting nobody, I’m just chilling.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp provides injury update on Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones after win at Brentford, stating Jota’s injury appears more serious.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has provided an update on the injuries sustained by Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones during their recent 4-1 Premier League victory against Brentford.

The triumph for the Reds came with a twinge of disappointment as they had to bid farewell to two players due to injuries during the match. This setback arrives amidst a string of injuries afflicting Klopp’s squad, with the casualty list appearing to expand.

In his post-match comments, Klopp shed light on the conditions of Jota and Jones. Speaking via This Is Anfield, he remarked:

“It’s a mix of emotions because we lost players, and the extent of their injuries remains uncertain. The situation doesn’t look promising for either of them.”

Regarding Jones’ suspected ankle injury, Klopp explained:

Diogo Jota

“Curtis sustained a knock to the lower part above his ankle. We’ll need to assess the severity, but the fact that Curtis couldn’t continue playing indicates it may be significant, as he’s someone who would push through discomfort at any cost.”
Klopp also expressed greater concern for Jota’s injury, suggesting it may be more severe than Jones’. He commented:

“Diogo’s injury appears to be more serious. While I haven’t reviewed the footage, reports suggest it’s not a favorable sight. We’ll need to further evaluate his condition.”

Despite the injuries, Liverpool’s victory propels them to the top of the league table with 57 points from 25 games, as they persist in their quest for the 2023-24 Premier League title.

Arsenal and Liverpool are poised for a showdown over the £55 million-rated talent who turned down Chelsea.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both vying for the signature of Brazilian winger Raphinha, who Barcelona has made available for a reported fee of £55 million, as per HITC Football.

Raphinha’s journey at Barcelona began in 2022 after a standout performance with Leeds United in the Premier League, securing his transfer for a reported €58 million. Since then, he has featured in 71 matches for the Blaugrana, scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists.

This season, Raphinha has continued to impress at Barcelona, contributing significantly with four goals and seven assists in 21 appearances, primarily as a substitute. His stellar performances have attracted interest from both the Premier League and the Saudi Pro League.

Given Barcelona’s financial challenges, they may need to offload several key players in the upcoming transfer window to alleviate their financial strain, with Raphinha potentially among those departing.

Raphinha

Arsenal is reportedly keen on acquiring multiple attacking options from Barcelona, including Raphinha and Ferran Torres. The Gunners had previously pursued the Brazilian before his move to Barcelona, and manager Mikel Arteta remains an admirer of Torres.

Similarly, Liverpool has long admired Raphinha, particularly impressed by his time in the Premier League. His style of cutting inside onto his left foot from the right flank could make him an attractive successor to Mohamed Salah for the Reds.

However, competition for Raphinha’s signature is fierce, with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, and Newcastle United also expressing interest. Both Arsenal and Liverpool will need to act swiftly in the transfer market to secure the talented Brazilian’s services.

Real Madrid is considering the sale of one of their stars as part of their strategy to create room for the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid could potentially part ways with Rodrygo in the upcoming summer transfer window as they prepare to secure the signing of Kylian Mbappé on a free transfer. The Spanish giants are leading the race to acquire the services of the French sensation, who is set to depart Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) when his contract expires.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo via Express Sport, Real Madrid might consider sacrificing Rodrygo to accommodate Mbappé. While the club’s hierarchy recognizes the talent of the Brazilian winger, concerns have been raised about his work rate.

The report indicates that although Rodrygo is considered important to Real Madrid, doubts linger over his long-term potential, and the club would be open to selling him if the right offer presents itself.

Should Real Madrid decide to part ways with Rodrygo, there is expected to be no shortage of interested suitors, given his impressive performances at the highest level.

Kylian Mbappe

Liverpool, in particular, have been linked with the Brazilian forward for some time, with manager Jürgen Klopp reportedly an admirer.

Interestingly, Liverpool came close to signing Rodrygo for £2.5 million when he was just 16 years old, but the deal fell through when Santos opted not to sell him. Instead, he made a €45 million move to Real Madrid in 2018, where he has since claimed nine trophies.

Rodrygo has already amassed 200 appearances for Real Madrid, contributing 50 goals and 39 assists. His versatility in the front three has made him a valuable asset for the club, and at just 23 years old, he still has ample room for further development. With 19 caps for Brazil, he remains a key figure for the national team.

Is The Rock hinting at a betrayal of Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 following clues from SmackDown?

The Rock caused a stir during WWE SmackDown this week when Roman Reigns announced his addition to The Bloodline. While the moment was significant, it wasn’t the only thing that caught attention.

During the customary finger-raised pose for The Bloodline, The Great One made a subtle change that sparked rumors of a potential betrayal.

Despite his recent return to WWE, The Rock has already made waves. From his position on the TKO board to joining The Bloodline, he’s been a focal point of discussion.

Alongside his confrontation with Cody Rhodes at the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press event, where his hopes of headlining the show seemed dashed, every move he makes draws attention.

Now, speculation is rife about a potential rift with Roman Reigns, as The Rock hinted at a different allegiance during the signature Bloodline pose.

Roman Reigns

While others raised their fists closed with only the index finger pointing upward, The Rock raised his thumb instead.

The subtle difference didn’t go unnoticed by the WWE Universe, who interpreted it as a signal of a possible betrayal in the future. Some fans drew parallels to The Rock’s past affiliations, particularly his time in the Nation of Domination, where dissent brewed due to his popularity overshadowing Farooq.

While nothing is confirmed, the similarities and the symbolic differences suggest a possible turn for The Rock. If he does indeed betray Reigns, it could spell trouble for The Bloodline and Reigns’ chances of retaining his title in the main event of WrestleMania.

Spieth Disqualified from Genesis Invitational for Incorrect Scorecard Signing

Jordan Spieth faced disqualification after the second round of the Genesis Invitational on Friday due to signing an inaccurate scorecard.

Spieth, a renowned three-time major champion, mistakenly recorded a par on the 245-yard par-3 4th hole at Riviera Country Club despite actually making a bogey following a missed 5-foot putt.

Acknowledging the error later that Friday in a post on X, Spieth admitted fault: “Today, I signed for an incorrect scorecard and stepped out of the scoring area, after thinking I went through all procedures to make sure it was correct,” wrote Spieth, who clinched an NCAA title with Texas at Riviera.

“Rules are rules, and I take full responsibility. I love this tournament and golf course as much as any on @PGATOUR so it hurts to not have a run at the weekend. Really appreciated the support in LA.”

Spieth’s round of 2-over 73 on Friday followed an opening round of 5-under 66 on Thursday, culminating in his disqualification.

After enduring a double bogey on the 18th hole that brought him back to 3-under for the tournament, Spieth swiftly exchanged fist-bumps with his playing partners and their caddies before dashing up the steps to the Riviera clubhouse.

Earlier reports from Sky Sports hinted at Spieth not feeling well during the day.

In 2022, Spieth faced disqualification from the JP McManus Pro-Am for picking up his ball on the 14th green before holing out.

This action stemmed from his misunderstanding that he didn’t need to complete the hole since his score wouldn’t contribute to the team tally. However, the pro-am also included an individual leaderboard for professionals, leading to Spieth’s disqualification for not finishing the hole.

This season, Spieth has garnered two top-10 finishes, notably securing third place at The Sentry in Hawaii. Friday’s round of 73 marked Spieth’s worst performance of the season and only his second round in the 70s for 2024.

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance following Thursday night’s 113-110 defeat against a depleted Memphis Grizzlies squad.

“We had some guys here, some guys in Cabo,” Rivers remarked to reporters post-game, as reported by Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.

Starters Jae Crowder and Malik Beasley struggled to reach double-digit points in the loss. Patrick Beverley, coming off the bench, managed just one point and four rebounds in 14 minutes of play.

This defeat marked the Bucks’ second consecutive heavy loss, following a 123-97 defeat against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Since Doc Rivers took over as head coach on January 26th, Milwaukee has posted a 3-7 record.
