49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s future has been a hot topic lately, especially with General Manager John Lynch addressing rumors about potential trades involving Aiyuk to the Steelers. Lynch mentioned that there’s ongoing discussion about extending Aiyuk’s contract as he enters the final year.
Aiyuk shared his thoughts during a podcast with former NFL players Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco. While he didn’t specifics about the talks, Aiyuk appreciated Ochocinco’s remarks about his value and emphasized his desire to be compensated fairly.
“I’m striving to receive what I deserve,” Aiyuk expressed. “This season, I’ve come into my own as a person and player. I’ve demonstrated my worth to the team and hope they recognize it.
From day one, I’ve shown my dedication and leadership. If they don’t acknowledge that, then that’s the bottom line.
I trust the professionals handling negotiations on both sides to reach an agreement that allows me to continue playing.”
Since joining the 49ers in 2020 as the 25th pick, Aiyuk has been productive, with impressive stats over the last two seasons. However, with other key players on the roster and plans for future contracts, the team faces challenges in securing Aiyuk’s extension.
