Professional bowler Brandon Novak, aged 35, found himself in a dramatic turn of events during the 2024 U.S. Open Bowling Tournament held at the Royal Pin Woodland in Indianapolis on February 1st.

Amidst his gameplay, Novak was unexpectedly apprehended by U.S. Marshals and subsequently booked into the Marion County jail in Indiana, as reported by The Columbus Dispatch.

Hailing from Chillicothe, Ohio, Novak faced an active arrest warrant issued in Ross County, the jurisdiction encompassing his hometown.

According to Cindy Schumaker, the assistant prosecuting attorney for Ross County, Novak stands charged under a confidential indictment, with the specific allegations to be disclosed only upon his extradition to Chillicothe. However, the timing of his transfer remains uncertain.

The arrest occurred during Novak’s participation in the bowling tournament, precisely during the seventh frame of his second game. Footage from The 11th Frame’s YouTube channel seemingly captures the moment of his apprehension, with Novak positioned off-camera as fellow bowlers divert their attention toward his lane.

Remarkably, even amidst this turmoil, Novak managed to achieve a commendable performance, securing the 36th position in the tournament and earning a prize sum of $1,500.

Novak’s professional bowling career spans back to 2009, marked by his debut in the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). Over the years, he has competed in a total of 76 events, clinching two prestigious titles and amassing a prize purse exceeding $93,000, as per records from the PBA’s official website.
