The initial stages of the women’s NCAA Tournament mark the final home games for Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and her fellow starters Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin. However, they’re not dwelling on it.

“We’re focusing on winning and getting back to the Final Four,” said Clark. Marshall, agreeing with her, sees it as added motivation for them.

The Hawkeyes, seeded No. 1 in the Albany 2 Regional, are up against Holy Cross in the first round. Despite the pressure, coach Lisa Bluder isn’t fazed, considering the team has faced similar intensity all season.

Clark, college basketball’s leading scorer this season, finds joy in the game, even amidst the attention. The team, coming off a Big Ten Tournament win, is prepared despite the break.

Holy Cross, fresh off a victory in the First Four, is ready for the challenge. Coach Maureen MaGarity acknowledges the magnitude of facing Iowa and its massive crowd.

West Virginia coach Mark Kellogg’s remarks on Selection Sunday about facing Clark garnered attention, but he recognizes her talent. Princeton, facing West Virginia, is preparing to counter their formidable defense.
