World No. 3 Coco Gauff has been effusive in her praise for R&B singer and dancer Usher following his halftime performance at the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday (February 11).

Usher was one of the featured entertainers during the halftime show of the championship match between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, alongside stars like Alicia Keys and H.E.R. His energetic performance at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas earned him thunderous applause from the audience.

Expressing her excitement, Coco Gauff took to X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram to commend Usher’s performance. On Twitter, she simply posted two clapping emojis in appreciation of the R&B legend. On Instagram, she described his contribution to the halftime show as “fire”, particularly highlighting H.E.R.’s solo performance as well.

Following Usher’s impressive display at the Super Bowl, his music has apparently found its way into the Gauff family’s playlist. Coco Gauff shared a video on her Instagram stories of her younger brother Cameron dancing to Usher’s song “New Flame”, a collaboration with R&B star Chris Brown from 2014.

In a lighthearted remark, Gauff humorously noted, “Usher has made it to gen alpha,” accompanied by a laughing emoji. It seems Usher’s Super Bowl performance has left a lasting impression on the Gauff household.

Coco Gauff wasn’t the only WTA player who found herself nostalgic at Usher’s halftime show. Former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and American star Jessica Pegula also expressed excitement at seeing the 45-year-old entertainer return to the spotlight with his classic hits.
