Following a tough film session reviewing their loss against Minnesota on Monday night and an energetic practice on Wednesday, Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone delivered a strong message to his team.

He reminded them, “Guys, we’re the reigning world champions. Act like it and play like it.”

However, in their Game 2 loss against the Timberwolves, where they fell 108-80, the Nuggets failed to live up to this expectation. This loss puts the Timberwolves ahead 2-0 in the best-of-7 Western Conference semifinal series.

Additionally, the NBA fined Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray $100,000 for throwing a towel and a heat pack onto the court during live play in the second quarter of Game 2. Despite avoiding a suspension, Murray faced criticism for his actions. He left the arena without speaking to reporters after both Games 1 and 2.

After Wednesday’s practice, he spoke to the media but didn’t have much to say about his actions during the game or the fine from the league.

“I take full responsibility for everything, so let’s move forward,” Murray commented when asked about the fine and if he expected it.

When pressed for an explanation, he responded, “Let’s move on. I don’t have much to say about it right now.” When questioned about apologizing or taking responsibility, Murray redirected by asking, “Any basketball-related questions?”

Murray admitted that the Nuggets lost their composure during Monday’s game against the Wolves. Despite their defensive ace, Rudy Gobert, being absent due to personal reasons, they struggled with a 35% shooting performance.

“We need to remain composed and stick together, regardless of the scoreboard,” Murray emphasized.
