Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is unlikely to join club legend Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, according to former USMNT player Taylor Twellman.

The 35-year-old has enjoyed a fruitful spell at Camp Nou since he arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022. Recently marking his 50th goal for the reigning La Liga champions, Lewandowski boasts an impressive tally of 51 goals and 14 assists in 80 games across competitions.

Despite being under contract until 2026, speculation surrounds Lewandowski’s future at the club. Twellman suggests that while Lewandowski could be among the top names on the move after Euro 2024, a move to Inter Miami in the MLS is unlikely. Speaking to Daily Mail (via GOAL), Twellman stated:

Robert Lewandowski

“I am as intrigued as I’ve ever been because I think 2024 summer after the Euros, after Copa América, I think you’re going to see some names being talked about that a lot of people right now would think. “I was completely out of my mind (for saying).

And I’m not sure if I will come on July 15. Let’s say (Robert) Lewandowski and Antoine Griezmann come to Major League Soccer this summer. They’re not coming to Miami.”

Inter Miami already boasts a strong contingent of former Barcelona players including Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suárez.
