Juan Carlos Ferrero, coach of Carlos Alcaraz, reveals that his children have a dismissive attitude towards players ranked as high as number 20 in the world.

Ferrero, a former top-ranked professional player, dominated men’s tennis in 2003 when he clinched the French Open singles title. Renowned for his prowess on clay courts, the Spaniard also secured four Masters tournaments, including notable victories at the Rome, Monte Carlo, and Madrid Masters.

Aside from his French Open triumph, Ferrero also reached the finals of prestigious events like the US Open and the French Open.

Transitioning from player to coach, he began mentoring Alcaraz in 2019, guiding the young talent to significant achievements, including two Grand Slam titles.

In a recent interview with La Nacion, Ferrero disclosed that his children, aware of their father’s illustrious career and Alcaraz’s success, find it difficult to appreciate players ranked lower than number 1.

He shared, “For them being number 1 is a bit normal, right? ‘Dad has been number one, now he has a player who has been number one,’ they say. So, for them to be number 20 is, ugh… What is that? But hey, they’ll figure it out.”
