The NBA reverted to its traditional East versus West format following six consecutive years of team captains selecting rosters without regard to conference affiliation. The Eastern Conference triumphed with a 211-186 victory on Sunday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers.

Game MVP Damian Lillard, with 39 points and six assists, alongside Tyrese Haliburton, who contributed 32 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, led the winning effort. Notably, Jaylen Brown, with 36 points, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, with 23 points, also made significant offensive contributions.

Despite Karl-Anthony Towns’ impressive 50-point performance for the West, the East broke a slump, winning after losing six of the last seven All-Star Games from 2011 through 2017 under the previous format.

Lillard received widespread praise on social media for his MVP performance, although the Indiana crowd showed support for Haliburton to receive the award.

The game showcased little defensive intensity from the onset, with players displaying dazzling dunks, fast breaks, and three-pointers. Haliburton, a hometown hero, ignited the crowd by hitting five three-pointers in the first quarter alone.

The East established a commanding 15-point halftime lead, with the game defined more by highlights than the scoreline. Memorable moments included Trae Young dribbling through Kevin Durant’s legs, LeBron James delivering vintage dunks, and Antetokounmpo’s powerful slams.

The second half continued with spectacular plays, including Lillard’s half-court shot and Haliburton’s inventive elbow pass. Despite the Western Conference’s efforts, they failed to mount a serious challenge, and the East secured the victory.

Looking ahead, the Golden State Warriors’ Chase Center will host next year’s All-Star Game, providing the Western Conference with an opportunity to reclaim victory.
