The Los Angeles Chargers announced Tuesday that Denzel Perryman has returned to the team for a second stint, signing a one-year contract.

Perryman, who was originally drafted by the Chargers in the second round back in 2015, spent six seasons with the team before stints with the Houston Texans last season and the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 and 2022.

Last season, Perryman started 13 of the 14 games he played for the Texans, including both postseason contests.

Notably, in 2021, he ranked third in the league with 102 solo tackles and sixth with 154 total stops, earning himself a Pro Bowl selection.

The addition of Perryman provides the Chargers with depth and veteran experience at the inside linebacker position. This comes as the team lost two starters, Eric Kendricks and Kenneth Murray Jr., with Kendricks being released and Murray signing with the Tennessee Titans. Additionally, backup linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga departed for the Chicago Bears.
