Chelsea and Shamrock Rovers have both been fined by UEFA for inappropriate chants during their Conference League match last month. Shamrock Rovers were fined €10,000 (£8,450) for chants referencing the death of Queen Elizabeth II during the game at Stamford Bridge on December 19.
In response, Chelsea fans sang an anti-IRA chant. As a result, Chelsea were also fined €10,000 by UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB).
Chelsea won the match 5-1, finishing the Conference League group stage with a perfect record and securing an automatic place in the last-16. Shamrock Rovers finished 10th in their group and will now face Norwegian team Molde in the knockout play-off round next month.
