Former Virginia Tech point guard Georgia Amoore has announced her commitment to join the Kentucky Wildcats, following her former head coach Kenny Brooks. Amoore’s decision comes just three days after entering the transfer portal and nine days after Brooks assumed the head coaching position at Kentucky. Notably, Amoore hinted at her choice with a playful reference to Drake in her announcement.

Speculation regarding Amoore’s move to Kentucky arose quickly upon her entry into the transfer portal, particularly when reports surfaced that she had requested programs refrain from contacting her, suggesting she had already made her decision. Amoore, who earned third-team All-American honors this season, played a pivotal role for Brooks at Virginia Tech, aiding the team in reaching its first Final Four last season.

Expressing deep admiration for Brooks, Amoore likened their relationship to that of a father and daughter, emphasizing the profound impact he has had on her life. Her stellar performance in her senior season at Virginia Tech, marked by career-best statistics including 18.8 points and 6.8 assists per game, underscores her value as a player.

With her move to Kentucky, Amoore is poised to assume a key role as the primary ball-handler for the Wildcats. The team, which is aiming to rebound from a challenging 12-20 season and hasn’t advanced to the Sweet Sixteen since 2013, stands to benefit from Amoore’s considerable talents and leadership on the court.
