Kevin Newman and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. both hit doubles that brought in two runs each. This helped the Arizona Diamondbacks win 8-5 against the San Francisco Giants. The Diamondbacks have now won four games in a row.

The manager of the Diamondbacks, Torey Lovullo, said, “We’ve been working really hard for this, so it’s not just luck. The guys are putting in extra time and effort, and finally, we’re seeing the results.”

Earlier that day, the Diamondbacks received surprising news. One of their relief pitchers, Andrew Saalfrank, was punished by Major League Baseball for betting on games. Saalfrank got suspended for a year, while another player got banned from baseball for life.

Despite this news, the Diamondbacks stayed focused during the game.

Newman hit his two-run double in the third inning, and Gurriel hit him in the seventh inning when the Diamondbacks scored four runs. Gabriel Moreno also had two runs batted in, and Blaze Alexander got three hits out of the 13 hits the Diamondbacks made.

Kevin Ginkel, who got hit by a ball in his last game, pitched well, giving up only two hits in his inning and a third. Paul Sewald finished the game in the ninth inning, earning his sixth save.

The Giants had chances to score early in the game but couldn’t capitalize. They hit into two double plays and couldn’t score when the bases were loaded in the second inning.

Even though pinch hitter Mike Yastrzemski hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning, it wasn’t enough for the Giants. They’ve now lost six games in a row, which is their longest losing streak of the season.
