Tyson Fury’s highly anticipated heavyweight title clash with Oleksandr Usyk has been delayed due to an injury sustained by the British boxer during sparring sessions. Despite the cause of the postponement, some fighters were anticipating Fury’s withdrawal from the historic match.

In January, former WBC welterweight champion Shawn Porter speculated that ‘The Gypsy King’ might opt out of the fight. During an interview with ProBox TV, he shared his thoughts, suggesting:

“I believe that a fighter reaches a point where they foresee a challenging night ahead and think, ‘I’ve had numerous tough nights already, I don’t want another one.’ He’s searching for opportunities that offer financial gain, recognition, and nights where he doesn’t have to undergo rigorous training.”

Similarly, Carl Froch also questioned the likelihood of Fury stepping into the ring against the Ukrainian. In a previous segment on his YouTube channel, the former super middleweight champion expressed his doubts, stating:

“With a large family, including his wife and seven children, Fury may prioritize relaxation and leisure time. Will he be willing to train throughout the holiday season, as required for a February fight? I’m uncertain; I have a feeling the fight might be postponed until March. You heard it here first.”
