Roope Hintz contributed a goal and two assists, reaching a milestone of surpassing 300 career points, while Chris Tanev notched his first goal for Dallas as the Stars continued their winning ways, securing a 6-2 triumph over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.
Jamie Benn and Joe Pavelski also made significant contributions, each tallying a goal and an assist for the Stars, who swiftly gained a 3-0 lead in the opening period. Dallas showcased prowess with three power-play goals, further bolstering their recent success with a 6-of-12 performance on the man advantage in their last three games.
Coach Peter DeBoer expressed satisfaction with the team’s rapid start, particularly following Tuesday night’s thrilling 7-6 overtime victory against San Jose, where they clawed back from a three-goal deficit in the final seven minutes of regulation.
“No one was happy with how that game went (on Tuesday), but we found a way to win,” DeBoer remarked. “We got a much better start tonight and much more solid in all areas.”
Radek Faksa and Mason Marchment also found the net for Dallas, with Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson each contributing a pair of assists.
Heiskanen’s notable performance follows his impressive four-point outing against San Jose, making him the first Dallas defenseman since John Klingberg in 2015 to amass six points over a two-game span. Goaltender Jake Oettinger stood firm between the pipes, turning away 26 shots en route to his fifth win in his last six starts.
For the Ducks, Ryan Strome and Alex Killorn provided the lone scoring efforts. Goaltender John Gibson made 30 saves but faced a barrage of goals, allowing six for the third time this season.
“They came out and were flying, and we weren’t ready for it. After that tornado ripped through us, we got back into a rhythm,” Ducks coach Greg Cronin commented.
Dallas capitalized on deflections for their three first-period goals, with Tanev, Hintz, and Faksa finding the net in quick succession. The Stars’ power-play prowess was evident once again, with Benn and Pavelski adding to the tally in the second and third periods, respectively.
Strome managed to help the Ducks avoid a shutout midway through the second period, redirecting Frank Vatrano’s shot into the net.
