The Winnipeg Jets wrapped up the trade deadline by strengthening their offensive capabilities and showcasing their defensive prowess, with Laurent Brossoit earning his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Friday night.

Adam Lowry and Mark Scheifele contributed crucial goals for the Jets, while Nikolaj Ehlers sealed the win with an empty-netter in the final minute. With this victory, the Jets joined Dallas and Colorado at the summit of the Central Division.

“We know we’re a great third period team,” Lowry remarked. “We’ve got the structure that we can be patient, kind of force some mistakes, and that’s what we did in the third.”

Brossoit, standing strong in the net, denied Seattle’s attempts, earning his fourth career shutout. Scheifele’s goal came after a prolonged period of limited chances for both teams, with Vladislav Namestnikov providing the crucial setup.

Winnipeg’s busy day included acquiring Tyler Toffoli and Colin Miller from New Jersey in separate deals before the trade deadline, bolstering their depth for the playoff push.

On the other side, the loss proved to be a missed opportunity for Seattle in their quest for a playoff spot. Despite Joey Daccord’s 29 saves, the Kraken couldn’t replicate their offensive performance from their previous win against the Jets.

“It’s just one game,” noted Tomas Tatar. “We have to put it behind us, and we know it’s all in front of us, and we have to battle for that spot.”

Seattle faced challenges with defenseman Vince Dunn and forward Jaden Schwartz sidelined due to injury, emphasizing the team’s need for resilience as they navigate the remainder of the season.
