Ivan Toney

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing Brentford striker Ivan Toney as a potential target if their rivals, Arsenal, fail to secure the England international. The 27-year-old has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent months, with Mikel Arteta’s side emerging as front-runners.

According to Dean Jones of Give Me Sport, as cited by The Boot Room, Arsenal are currently leading the race to secure Toney’s signature. Chelsea has also expressed interest in the £60 million-rated forward.

However, Tottenham Hotspur are poised to seize the opportunity to sign Toney if their rivals are unable to finalize the deal for the former Newcastle United player. With Toney nearing the end of his contract at Brentford, a summer departure from the club seems increasingly likely.

Despite being in the title race this season, Arsenal have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer upfront. Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, the two main strikers at Arteta’s disposal, have only managed to score a combined total of 14 goals across all competitions this season.

Similarly, Tottenham Hotspur have yet to find a suitable replacement for Harry Kane following his departure to Bayern Munich last summer. While Heung-min Son and Richarlison have contributed 23 goals between them this season, there is still a need for a natural goalscorer upfront.

Toney has been a standout performer for Brentford, finishing third in the Premier League Golden Boot race last season with 20 league goals in 33 appearances. Since returning from an eight-month ban for breaching gambling regulations, he has continued his impressive form, netting four goals in seven games.
