The Chargers recently let go of two experienced receivers, Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, stirring up talks about how they’ll strengthen the position in Joe Hortiz’s debut draft as General Manager.
While bringing in new players is an option, it’s not the only solution. Although Hortiz wasn’t there when Quentin Johnston was drafted last year and didn’t see his modest stats, he believes Johnston has potential. He thinks Johnston can progress significantly with the help of the team’s new coaching staff.
Hortiz said, “Many rookies have similar first seasons, but Johnston showed promising skills. Every time I watch the film, I see his talent, and I anticipate him improving. I’m confident in our coaches’ ability to guide him.”
Apart from Johnston, the Chargers have Josh Palmer, Derius Davis, and Simi Fehoko as other wide receivers on the roster. While more additions are expected, Johnston’s performance improvement remains crucial regardless of new arrivals.
