FAU’s Johnell Davis Transfers to Calipari, Arkansas; Reportedly Offered $1M+ NIL Deal

Former Florida Atlantic standout guard Johnell Davis has announced his decision to transfer to Arkansas, under the helm of new head coach John Calipari. The move comes amidst Davis’s declaration for the NBA Draft, with Arkansas sweetening the deal with a lucrative Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreement reportedly worth over $1 million.

Davis, a key player for FAU during their impressive Final Four run as an eighth seed in 2022-23, averaged career-highs of 18.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season.

The departure of FAU head coach Dusty May to Michigan has triggered a wave of transfers, including center Vladislav Goldin. Now, Davis, ranked as the top player available in the transfer portal by On3, is set to bolster the Razorbacks’ roster.

Arkansas has been assembling an impressive 2024 recruiting class, currently ranked third overall by 247Sports. Calipari has secured commitments from three top-30 prospects: Karter Knox, Billy Richmond, and Boogie Fland. Additionally, Arkansas has fortified its frontline with transfers Jonas Aidoo from Tennessee and Zvonimir Ivisic from Kentucky.

Davis’s decision to join Arkansas further strengthens a team already poised for success in the upcoming season. With a formidable roster on paper and the coaching prowess of Calipari, the Razorbacks are shaping up to be contenders.

The addition of Davis adds scoring prowess and experience to Arkansas’s backcourt, complementing the talent already in place. As anticipation builds for the new season, Arkansas fans have reason to be optimistic about the team’s prospects with Davis now in the fold.
