Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant expressed his satisfaction with the Washington Commanders’ decision to appoint Kliff Kingsbury as the team’s new offensive coordinator.
According to a report by Jordan Schultz for Bleacher Report, Kingsbury reached an agreement with the Commanders on Sunday.
“Welcome Kliff,” Durant posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Who’s next?????”

Durant, a two-time NBA champion, hails from Washington, D.C., and has been vocal about his support for the city’s football team. He made appearances at the Commanders’ training camp in July 2023, attending an open practice as a fan.
Former head coach Ron Rivera expressed his appreciation for Durant’s presence during the team’s training camp, acknowledging Durant’s local ties and support for the Commanders.
“It’s great to have KD here,” Rivera stated via the team’s official website. “I know he is a local guy. I know how much of a Washington Redskins/Commanders fan he is. Great to have his support. I mean, it is great to have the fanbase back.”
Following Rivera’s dismissal after a disappointing 4-13 season, the Commanders appointed former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as his successor. Quinn, who previously coached the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, brings valuable head coaching experience to the team.
Kingsbury, like Quinn, also boasts head coaching experience, having led the Arizona Cardinals from 2019 until his termination in January 2023, accumulating a record of 28-37-1.
Prior to his NFL stint, Kingsbury achieved success at the collegiate level, notably as the head coach of Texas Tech, where he developed several NFL talents, including Patrick Mahomes.
In addition to his coaching tenure with the Cardinals, Kingsbury spent the 2023 season as a senior offensive analyst for USC, working with standout quarterback Caleb Williams.
Despite being considered for the offensive coordinator position with the Las Vegas Raiders, Kingsbury withdrew his candidacy, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
