LeBron James suggested he won’t play basketball in the NBA for much longer. “I won’t be here for another 21 years, that’s for sure,” James said after a remarkable shooting night, hitting 9 out of 10 three-pointers to match his personal best. “I don’t know when I’ll stop, but my time is limited.”

James, defying age, scored 40 points, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 116-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

In his 1,485th game, James mesmerized the crowd with his shooting skills, especially in the fourth quarter. This marked his third 40-point game this season, the latest being on March 16 against the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers, now nine games above .500, have won five of their last six games, positioning themselves well for the playoffs. They aim to climb higher in the Western Conference standings with seven games left, avoiding the play-in game.

Anthony Davis contributed 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Rui Hachimura added 20 points and 10 rebounds, complementing James’ stellar performance.

The Nets, led by Cam Thomas with 30 points, tried to stage a comeback after a slow start but fell short against the Lakers’ dominant display.

James’ nine three-pointers tied his previous best achieved on January 24, 2023, showcasing his exceptional shooting skills. Despite a sluggish start from Brooklyn, they couldn’t contain James’ onslaught, leading to a comfortable victory for the Lakers.
