Luke Musgrave displayed remarkable resilience in Sunday’s victory over the Chargers, persisting through a lacerated kidney that necessitated a post-game hospital visit. Currently recuperating at home under monitoring, Musgrave, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, won’t be participating in Green Bay’s Thanksgiving Day clash against Detroit, with his future status yet to be determined.

On Wednesday, Green Bay made the decision to place Musgrave on injured reserve, a move that thankfully spared him from undergoing surgery. Despite the severity of his injury, Musgrave’s stoic perseverance drew praise from his coach, Matt LaFleur.

Addressing reporters during a Tuesday press conference, LaFleur acknowledged the gravity of Musgrave’s condition, stating, “He’s got a pretty significant injury. I think it speaks to his toughness.” LaFleur commended Musgrave’s silent endurance throughout the game until he finally alerted head athletic trainer Bryan Engel to his discomfort.

While acknowledging the offensive setback, LaFleur emphasized the team’s resilience and the opportunities it presents for other players. Describing Musgrave as a player with the potential for dynamic contributions in the league, LaFleur expressed confidence in his continued improvement.

Despite sustaining the injury during Sunday’s game, Musgrave valiantly played through until the end before revealing his pain. The second-round pick has recorded 33 catches for 341 yards and one touchdown in 10 games.

With Musgrave sidelined, rookies Tucker Kraft and Ben Sims are now listed behind him on Green Bay’s depth chart, and the team will rely on them for at least the next four games.
