Manchester United announced on Thursday that manager Erik ten Hag has extended his contract until 2026. The Dutchman, who led the team to back-to-back trophies in his first two years at Old Trafford, faced uncertainty following the club’s lowest league finish in 34 years last season.

However, after a performance evaluation, United decided to retain Ten Hag. His new deal adds one year to his previous contract, which was set to expire after the upcoming season.

Reflecting on his tenure, Ten Hag expressed pride in the team’s achievements so far but acknowledged the need for continued hard work to meet Manchester United’s high expectations.

He emphasized the club’s unified vision for pursuing success both domestically and in European competitions.

Since joining from Ajax in 2022, Ten Hag guided United to victory in the English League Cup during his debut season and followed it with an FA Cup triumph over Manchester City last season. His decision to stay comes amid significant restructuring of the club’s soccer operations under new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, aimed at restoring United’s status as a top force in European football.
