Max Holloway calls for ‘real life BMF’ Mark Coleman to wrap title around winner of UFC 300 fight vs. Justin Gaethje

The legacy of the BMF (Baddest Motherf*cker) title demands a special individual to present the coveted belt to the victor at UFC 300, and Max Holloway firmly believes that Mark Coleman fits the bill perfectly.

Holloway, a former UFC featherweight champion, is poised to square off against Justin Gaethje for the BMF belt in a lightweight clash at UFC 300, scheduled for April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This high-stakes event will be available for viewing on pay-per-view, ESPN, and ESPN+.

The BMF title was initially introduced in November 2019 for the UFC 244 showdown between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had the honor of wrapping the title around Masvidal after his impressive fourth-round TKO victory.

Following Masvidal’s retirement from UFC competition last year, the promotion reinstated the title for the UFC 291 headliner between Gaethje and Dustin Poirier in August. Gaethje emerged victorious in that bout, with Masvidal presenting him with the prestigious silver strap.

Now, with the third BMF title fight on the horizon, Holloway proposes that UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman be entrusted with presenting the belt to the winner of the upcoming fight. This suggestion comes in light of Coleman’s recent remarkable recovery from a devastating house fire, during which he heroically saved his parents but tragically lost his beloved family dog, Hammer.

According to Holloway, “The only correct answer is Mark Coleman.” He expressed admiration for Coleman’s bravery in risking his life to save his pet and emphasized that Coleman epitomizes the essence of a true BMF. Holloway added, “That would be sick if he did it. It would be an honor to get him to do it.”

Holloway is eagerly anticipating his showdown with Gaethje at UFC 300. This marks his return to the lightweight division since his interim title defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 236 in April 2019 and is one of the most anticipated matchups of the historic event.

While Holloway acknowledges the significance of the BMF title, he confessed that his excitement peaks when contemplating the prospect of facing Gaethje, one of the most formidable competitors in the sport. “The belt is cool – it’s whatever,” Holloway remarked.

“But I’m more excited that I get to share the octagon with Gaethje.” He emphasized the privilege of competing against a future Hall of Famer like Gaethje, highlighting that the title, while prestigious, pales in comparison to the opportunity to test his skills against such a formidable opponent.
