Tyrese Maxey had his best game ever, scoring 52 points as the injury-hit Philadelphia 76ers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 133-126 in double overtime on Sunday night, securing their fifth consecutive win.

Philadelphia forward Nicolas Batum expressed the importance of Maxey’s performance, stating that it was much needed for the team. Despite facing a tough opponent, Maxey’s determination and leadership led the way for the 76ers.

Victor Wembanyama impressed for the Spurs with 33 points, 18 rebounds, and seven blocks. Philadelphia’s star player Joel Embiid didn’t play in the game due to rest, having played three consecutive games after returning from an injury.

Maxey’s remarkable achievement of scoring 50 or more points for the third time this season puts him in elite company alongside Embiid, Allen Iverson, and Wilt Chamberlain in franchise history.

Despite the loss, San Antonio’s Julian Champagnie and Tre Jones contributed 17 points each, while Malaki Branham added 22 points.

Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 26 points for Philadelphia, while Paul Reed recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Wembanyama showcased his versatility with a career-high five 3-pointers and six assists, along with his impressive defensive presence with 238 blocked shots this season.
