Micah Parsons is known for his skills as a pass rusher in the NFL, but he believes he could also excel as a kickoff returner. Cowboys special teams coordinator John Fassel shares this belief.
According to Fassel, Parsons has expressed interest in returning kickoffs for Dallas. However, Fassel explains that the decision isn’t solely up to him, and the team’s decision-makers are cautious about risking injury to such a valuable player on special teams.
While Fassel acknowledges Parsons’ potential in kickoff returns, he understands that it’s unlikely to happen due to the risk involved.
However, he believes Parsons could be exceptional in kickoff coverage, particularly with his ability to quickly defeat blockers and make tackles.
Fassel recalls seeing Parsons’ talent in kickoff coverage during his time at Penn State and believes he could thrive in that role in the NFL. Despite Parsons’ interest in returning kicks, Fassel suggests it’s unlikely unless there’s a critical situation where the team needs a touchdown to win at the end of a game.
