Chris Woodward has been named the Los Angeles Dodgers’ new first base coach, marking his return to manager Dave Roberts’ staff.
The Dodgers made the announcement on Friday night. Woodward previously served as the team’s first base coach from 2016 to 2018 before leaving to become the manager of the Texas Rangers.
Woodward takes over the position after Clayton McCullough, the former first base coach, became the manager of the Miami Marlins.
Woodward had a record of 211 wins and 287 losses during his nearly four seasons with the Rangers. For the past two years, he has been a senior advisor with the Dodgers’ Major League and Player Development staff.
Brandon Gomes, the Dodgers’ executive vice president and general manager, stated that Woodward will take charge of base running and infield duties, while third base coach Dino Ebel will move to oversee the outfield.
