Oliver Marmol argues with Alan Porter

Michael Siani hit a double that brought in the winning run, while Paul Goldschmidt broke his slump with a home run to help the St. Louis Cardinals come back and win 4-3 against the Milwaukee Brewers, ending their seven-game losing streak on Sunday.

Goldschmidt, who struggled in May with just one hit in 34 at-bats, hit his third home run of the season in the fifth inning off Bryse Wilson. He later tied the game with a single in the sixth inning against Jared Koenig.

“It was a team effort today,” said Goldschmidt. “Different guys stepped up. That’s what we need for the whole season.”

The game was tied until the seventh inning when Siani hit a double off the wall to bring Brendan Donovan home.

Manager Oliver Marmol and bench coach Daniel Descalso were ejected in the third inning by home-plate umpire Alan Porter after a couple of calls were overturned following replay reviews. Despite the ejections, Marmol said he was just trying to motivate his team and had no issues with the umpires.
