Simeon Woods Richardson got his first win in eight starts, Jose Miranda drove in two runs, and the Minnesota Twins defeated the Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Tuesday night.
The Twins, who have won six of their last seven games, had two hits each from Manuel Margot, Byron Buxton, and Carlos Santana.
In the ninth inning, Jhoan Duran faced a tough situation when the first two hitters reached base. However, he managed to prevent any runs from scoring, earning his eighth save with some impressive pitches, including two over 100 mph.
Woods Richardson commented on his performance, expressing determination not to let any runs in. Kansas City struggled with only five hits, losing their third consecutive game after an eight-game winning streak. They have also struggled in recent games at Target Field.
Woods Richardson, who now holds a record of 2-0, allowed three hits and struck out four in five innings. Despite pitching well in most of his recent starts, he hadn’t won a game since April 13.
Manager Rocco Baldelli praised Woods Richardson’s maturity and ability to throw strikes consistently. He noted the pitcher’s improvement in using different pitches effectively.
After a smooth start, Woods Richardson faced difficulties in the fifth inning when the Royals managed to score two runs, narrowing the lead to 3-2.
