Jalen Brunson found it hard to explain why he always performs well against the Milwaukee Bucks. The New York Knicks guard had another impressive game against the Bucks, scoring 43 points and helping his team secure a 122-109 victory. This win marked the Bucks’ fourth consecutive loss. Brunson has been averaging 37.2 points in the five games he’s played against the Bucks this season.
Despite his success, Brunson emphasized the importance of team wins over personal stats. He acknowledged that despite his high scoring, the Knicks had struggled to win against the Bucks in previous matchups.
Brunson’s performance earned him his ninth 40-point game of the season, placing him third on the Knicks’ single-season list, behind Bernard King’s 13 games with 40 or more points in 1984-85.
The Bucks are currently facing their longest losing streak of the season, having lost six of their last seven games. Despite the setback, they remain a game ahead of the Knicks and Orlando Magic in the race for the Eastern Conference’s second playoff seed, behind the Boston Celtics.
Milwaukee’s star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, returned to action after missing their previous game due to a hamstring issue. However, their top trio of players, including Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton, faced another setback when Middleton left the game after getting hit in the face.
Middleton’s departure was due to an accidental collision with New York’s Donte DiVincenzo and Knicks center Isaiah Hartenstein. He left the court with a mouth injury and had to see a dentist after the game.
