Newcastle made an incredible comeback to defeat West Ham with a thrilling 4-3 victory at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Despite falling behind 3-1 early on, Newcastle fought back with late goals from Harvey Barnes to secure the win. Alexander Isak scored an early penalty, but West Ham responded with goals from Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus. Jarrod Bowen added another for West Ham right after halftime.
However, Isak’s second penalty gave Newcastle hope, and Barnes, who came off the bench, scored twice to seal the dramatic win.
Although Anthony Gordon was sent off late in the game, Newcastle held on for the crucial victory.
Manager Eddie Howe showed visible relief and joy as he celebrated Barnes’ goals, especially after facing criticism from fans during recent matches.
Newcastle’s owners from Saudi Arabia had expected better results, given their team’s performance last season when they finished in the top four.
