Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers has been cleared of any disciplinary action by the NFL following an investigation into allegations of domestic violence. The league stated that there was insufficient evidence to support any violation of its personal conduct policy and thus, no further action will be taken.
The investigation by the NFL comes after Baltimore County Police suspended their own inquiry without filing any criminal charges. The police began their investigation when a distressed woman called 911 in January, later accusing an unnamed NFL player of a violent domestic incident. This incident allegedly left her with bruises, with the player’s brother reportedly wielding a gun before police intervened.
Although the woman did not initially name the player involved, connections were made to Zay Flowers through social media. However, Flowers declined to be interviewed by the police, and the woman did not provide additional details during the investigation.
Legal experts, including Baltimore attorney Adam Ruther, explained that the suspension of the police investigation likely indicated that they had exhausted all available leads without further evidence or witness cooperation. With no new developments, the case was deemed inactive.
With both the police and NFL investigations concluded, Flowers is now free to participate in team activities without any disciplinary repercussions. This development comes as a relief for Flowers, who completed his first NFL season in 2023, appearing in all 16 regular-season games for the Ravens.
