On the first day of training camp, the Kansas City Chiefs added wide receiver Hal Presley to their roster. This move was officially listed on the NFL’s daily transaction report released Monday. Presley joined the team after participating in a workout session that also included fellow wide receivers Amari Rodgers and Seth Williams.

Hal Presley played college football at Baylor, where he had a productive season with 31 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns. Despite his college performance, Presley went undrafted in the NFL and initially signed with the Buffalo Bills. However, he was released following their rookie minicamp, leaving him available for other opportunities.

Chiefs Strengthen Receiving Corps Amid Ross Waiver and Rice’s Uncertain Season Status

The Chiefs’ decision to sign Presley follows the recent waiving of wide receiver Justyn Ross. This roster change suggests the team is actively looking to bolster depth at the wide receiver position during the early stages of training camp. Presley’s addition provides another option as the team evaluates talent ahead of the season.

Currently, the Chiefs’ wide receiver depth chart is headlined by Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, and Rashee Rice. However, Rice’s availability for the season remains uncertain due to potential disciplinary action stemming from a 2024 car crash, in which he pleaded guilty. Presley’s signing could be a proactive move to ensure stability in the position amidst possible suspensions.
