A group of Chilean nationals has been charged with a series of high-profile burglaries targeting professional athletes across the U.S. The gang allegedly stole millions in valuables from the homes of NFL and NBA stars, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Federal prosecutors revealed that the men strategically targeted players’ homes while they were away for games.

According to authorities, the burglars broke into Mahomes’ Belton, Missouri, mansion just after midnight on October 6, followed by a break-in at Kelce’s home the next day. The burglaries coincided with the Chiefs’ game preparations against the New Orleans Saints. The gang allegedly stole high-end items such as jewelry, watches, cash, and luxury goods. Two weeks later, they struck again in Tampa, burglarizing the home of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers player while the team played the Baltimore Ravens.

The group continued its spree on November 2 by targeting a Milwaukee Bucks player’s home, stealing a safe containing watches, chains, jewelry, and designer items worth approximately $1.484 million. They later targeted Joe Burrow’s home in Cincinnati on December 9, while the Bengals were in Texas playing the Dallas Cowboys.

Prosecutors said the suspects stole around $300,000 worth of valuables, including Burrow’s diamond-encrusted chains. Court documents revealed photos of the suspects flaunting the stolen items, and surveillance footage captured one suspect carrying luggage through a wooded area near the home.

Suspects Arrested and Indicted, Facing Up to 10 Years in Prison

Authorities apprehended three of the suspects on January 10 near Fairborn, Ohio, during a traffic stop. They were later indicted in federal court in Cincinnati for the burglary and charged with falsifying records in a federal investigation. The remaining gang members were linked to a final burglary on December 19–20, when they allegedly stole over $1 million worth of jewelry, watches, and luxury bags from a Memphis Grizzlies player’s home while the team played in Tennessee.

In total, prosecutors estimate that the gang stole more than $2 million in valuables throughout their crime spree. The seven Chilean nationals face serious federal charges, including conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property. If convicted, each of them could receive a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. Authorities continue to investigate the group’s broader involvement in organized theft rings targeting affluent individuals.
