The Cleveland Browns made a surprising move earlier this offseason by releasing veteran pass rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo. Okoronkwo, who has carved out a respectable NFL career since being drafted in 2018, quickly found a new home with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles officially announced the signing, adding depth and experience to their pass rush unit.
Okoronkwo entered the league as a fifth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams and has since played for the Rams, Houston Texans, and, most recently, the Browns. Over the course of his career, he has recorded 17 sacks and 31 tackles for loss, showcasing his ability to disrupt offenses. His production dipped slightly in 2024, with just 3 sacks compared to 4.5 the year prior.

Eagles Add Experience and Depth with Okoronkwo, Take a Chance on Sykes Too
Now 30 years old, Okoronkwo brings veteran presence and potential to Philadelphia’s defensive front. His track record and experience give him a solid chance of making the final roster, especially on a team with championship aspirations. The Eagles hope he can convert his athleticism into consistent summer performances to secure his spot.
In addition to Okoronkwo, the Eagles also signed defensive tackle Jordan Sykes. Sykes has a more unconventional path, having played college football at Harvard and UCLA before stints with the Seattle Seahawks and the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas. While Sykes is more of a long shot to make the team, Okoronkwo is expected to be a serious contender for a key role in Philadelphia’s defense.
